BWOC

Bryan Woodbine Operating Company, Inc (BWOC)—was the Barnes Energy Group’s oil and gas exploration, production, and marketing company until  August 10 2007 when its operations along with Bryan Woodbine Gathering, Inc. were sold.
BWOC – The Beginning
BWOC was formed in 1984 when a group of oil companies owning interests within the Bryan Woodbine Field decided to merge their work to improve field recovery with water-flood and gas re-injection technology.  Prodded by State of Texas regulators, and with help from the City of Bryan, the Field was Unitized and became known as the Woodbine Unit.  Of the Unit’s 18,630-acre field, two-thirds fell inside the Bryan city limits; production came from the Woodbine sandstone. 
Since its discovery in 1981, the field has yielded more than 18 million barrels of oil in primary production.  Its 100-plus wells have had some 450 working-interest owners and more than 16,000 royalty owners. Subsequent injection of 139 million barrels of water (including re-injection of produced water) yielded another 23 million barrels of oil and 37 billion cubic feet of natural gas. 
A BWOC wholly owned subsidiary, Bryan Woodbine Gathering, Inc.—coordinates pipeline and trucking operations, is first purchaser of the oil, and distributes revenues to royalty and working-interest owners, and handles oil and gas payments to the State of Texas.
BARNES and BWOC
In 1994, when oil production had dropped from 25,000 barrels per day to fewer than 500, John Barnes personally, and through his companies, acquired controlling interest in BWOC and the Woodbine’s Unit’s working-interests.  Then John and his team returned the Woodbine Unit to profitability.  BWOC successfully developed wells in the Austin Chalk zones above the Woodbine formation and in the Buda and Georgetown formations below Woodbine.
In August 10, the operations of BWOC based in Bryan, and Bryan Woodbine Gathering, Inc., were sold and the successor purchaser, Martineau Petroleum, Inc. became the operator of the properties.
